Exodus, movement of U's people

Two more players were shed from United's wage bill today as former captain Martin Thomas and non-event Kevin Gibbens both had their contracts terminated. Thomas, 27, was signed as captain by Mark Wright but after injury failed to feature for Ian Atkins. He had a year remaining on his contract and would have accepted an undisclosed sum to leave. Gibbens was signed on transfer deadline day until the end of the season so that the club could assess him. Presumably he failed the assessment. He never played for the first team and failed to impress in his few reserves appearances.

Meanwhile Joey Beauchamp is pondering his future. Allegedly he has been offered £30,000 by the club to leave, with a year remaining on his £3,000 a week contract. He is to have his foot injury assessed this week and will then let the club knows what he wants to do. One rumour is that 31 year old Joey will retire from the professional game, although if he regains the attitude that saw him score 19 goals from the wing just three seasons ago then there's no reason why he couldn't rip apart third division defences, really.

Open sesame

OxVox and Oxford United are hosting an open meeting at the Kassam Stadium on Wednesday June 12th. Present to answer questions will be manager Ian Atkins and chairman Firoz Kassam. This is an excellent opportunity for fans to voice their concerns and raise questions, although unfortunately Rage Online will be on our well deserved (so we say) holidays, so we'll miss the meeting and there'll be no Rage On spin on any reporting.
