This evening's third division fixtures saw three games involving teams above Oxford. Third placed Bournemouth drew 1-1 at Rochdale, despite being ahead at half-time. The Cherries are now four points clear of United having played a game more. Scunthorpe moved up to fourth after winning 2-1 at Carlisle, who slipped back into the relegation zone. The Iron are now three points above Oxford but have played two games extra. Wrexham stayed sixth, one point ahead of Oxford and they have now played the same number of games, following their 3-3 draw at home to Shrewsbury, who United face on Saturday. Wrexham had to come back from behind three times, with Nigel Jemson scoring the Shrews' third goal.
Cambridge's 2-1 win at Darlington saw them move up to twelfth, five points behind the Us but having played a game more. The other game in this division saw Macclesfield climb out of the relegation places by beating Orient 3-1 at Moss Rose.
