Millers totally flossed

United were once more involved in a seven goal thriller, only this time they somehow won, despite taking the lead with Robert Quinn's first goal for the club after some good work by Manny Omoyinmi in the 6th minute. Mark Robbins equalised in the 22nd minute but five minutes later Omoyinmi scored his first for the club following a mazy run and an emphatic long-range shot. Omoyinmi added a third for United with a delicate chip after being released by Sam Ricketts after 59 minutes. Two minutes later Guy Branston yet again pulled a goal back for the Millers before another first time scorer, Andy Scott, glanced home a header to restore United's two goal advantage with 23 minutes remaining. Alan Lee bundled home a cross with ten minutes to go but United's defence held firm for the club to record their fifth league win of the season. No United players were cautioned (although Brian Wilsterman did see Yellow) and the attendance was 4,493. A match report should appear here.

As a result of this victory United can now not get relegated this month. Bristol Rovers and swindon shared the points in a goalless game in Bristol and Port Vale also drew 0-0, at home to Wigan. Luton's game at Brentford and Cambridge's match with Colchester were both postponed last night so United are now ten points adrift of Swansea and 22 adrift of fifth-bottom Cambridge United, whom we play on Tuesday (although reports from the Abbey Stadium suggest that if any more rain falls on it between now and then the match is likely to be postponed again). United have 11 games remaining and still have to face all of the five teams immediately above us.
