Town give U's 2s the blues

United's reserves lost 2-0 at home to Ipswich reserves tonight with a somewhat drab performance despite fielding a relatively strong side. A goal in the first half from Neil Midgely and a second near the end from Jonas Axeldal sealed the victory for Ipswich, for whom Manuel Thetis was the most experienced player. United fielded Little and Large up front (Ben Abbey and Kevin Francis) but rarely looked like scoring. Also playing were Rob Folland, Jamie Cook, Andre Arendse and a shaven headed Derek Lilley, who was substituted midway through the second half. One worrying sign was that in the directors box, sitting next to the theatrically deprived Denis Smith, was one Malcolm Crosby (hopefully not the sign of things to come). Also present was Cheltenham boss Steve Cotterill and Alan Cork.
