The tallest player in the football league was today talking to his former club Stockport County with the view to moving back to the place where he is still regarded as a local hero. Kevin Francis is one of four strikers touted to other clubs by United boss Denis Smith and it is known that he is on very high wages, so if Francis, who is one of eleven Oxford players out of contract at the end of the season, does find himself another club then that must be considered a positive result, especially considering his injury problems recently.
Meanwhile goalkeeper Andre Arendse could be out for several weeks following his shoulder injury sustained against Reading on Tuesday. With reserve 'keeper Phil Wilson also apparently injured this means that Smith could be on the lookout for another 'keeper, either on loan should Craig Russell's stay not be extended beyond his final game at Colchester this weekend, or on a free transfer.
