Shakers rattled by Cook

Oxford moved out of the relegation zone of Division Two following yet another away win, this time 2-1 at Bury where the U's have a poor record. Derek Lilley put United ahead after just nine minutes following good work from Jamie Cook and Oxford looked to have all three points until the 89th minute when Nick Daws equalised from a header for what seemed likely to be a share of the points. However Oxford continued to battle and in injury time Lilley returned the favour for Jamie Cook to score the winner with a left-footed shot with about 25 seconds remaining.

Nigel Jemson and Christian Edwards were relegated to the bench, and neither got onto the pitch, this being Edwards' last game at the club. Instead Cook started up front alongside Steve Anthrobus. Steve Davis came on for the first time since his injury at Wycombe in place of Simon Weatherstone. Read the somewhat disjointed and delirious match here.

Most of the other clubs in the relegation struggle drew tonight. Blackpool drew 1-1 at home to Burnley, Cardiff and Chesterfield shared the points with a 1-1 draw at Saltergate, Cambridge drew 2-2 at Luton, who scored a 90th minute equaliser, and Scunthorpe drew 0-0 at home to Brentford. United are now in 19th place, four points behind Bury in 18th position and two points above the relegation zone.

Fizzy Lager

John Durnin scored both Carlisle's goals as they won 2-0 at Peterborough.
