More green?

United drew 1-1 at Ryman Premier League team Moor Green tonight. United went ahead when Jefferson Louis scored from the penalty spot just after half an hour, with the home side equalising quarter of an hour into the second half.

United included triallists Leo Roget, formerly of Southend, in defence and former Scunthorpe striker Brian Quailey. Also appearing for the Us was one Darren Patterson, which hopefully was just the club giving the lad a run out as a favour, rather than a signal of anything permanent. Other triallists included defenders Alan Wright from Dundee and Christian Hanson of Boro.

Moody's blues

Paul Moody today left Oxford United “by mutual consent”. United's leading scorer last season, but who is injury-prone, is this evening playing for his first team, Havant and Waterlooville, with the possibility of a permananent move back to the Hampshire club. Moody joined United for the second time in September last season, scoring on his debut against Southend and going on to hit a further twelve league goals.

Moods is now 35 and would most likely only have played in half of United's games next season, whilst being the highest paid player on the payroll. He is talking about doing an interior design course and re-establishing his painting and decorating business. Having paid fewer than fifty games for Oxford it is thought that part of his £150,000 transfer fee will not now have to be paid to Millwall.

Meanwhile another former well-paid United favourite, Joey Beauchamp, has allegedly been barred from the Kassam Stadium. He claims that he is persona non grata at United's ground, although we haven't heard both sides of the story.

Moor Green

United are playing in Birmingham this evening against Moor Green. The side features seven United players, all of whom have league experience, including Scott Guyett who played the second half at Derby, and four triallists, thought to include Bradley Allen and Dave Oldfield. Lee Steele is likely to feature for at least some of the game against Chelsea tomorrow.

Meanwhile United are sending some sort of a team to play at Aylesbury next Tuesday.
