NYD roundup
Not many Division Three games survived the weather. Amongst those that did first placed Hartlepool consolidated their lead by beating second bottom Carlisle 2-1 after going a goal behind. Second placed Rushden also drew further away from Oxford hammering Shrewsbury 5-1 despite having a player sent off. Bury moved above Oxford after beating Hull City 1-0, leaving the Us in fourth place but with two games in hand. York missed their chance to climb above United by going down 3-1 at home to Scunthorpe and Wrexham lost by a similar score at home to Macclesfield to fail to close the gap. Another team on the fringe of the play-off places, Lincoln City, were held at home 1-1 by Boston United. Oxford's next opponents, Arsenal, beat Chelsea 3-2 after being 3-0 ahead. Sadly they suffered no major injuries.
Curse all flyers
United's game at Southend was called off this morning following a pitch inspection. Apparently there was lots of surface water and more rain forecast. With United playing Arsenal on Saturday it means that the Us will have three games in hand on most of their promotion rivals, which is nice.
