Lundin burning in Forest fire

United goalkeeper Pål Lundin was sent off for foul and abusive language after conceding a penalty at the Manor today in the FA Cup third round replay. This was after a superb solo goal from Paul Powell had given United a deserved lead in the 70th minute. This lead lasted ten minutes before Chris Bart-Williams equalised with a 25 yard drive. Just two minutes later came the penalty incident and Lundin's dismissal. Andre Arendse went into goal, replacing Derek Lilley, and Bart-Williams scored from the spot for Forest to take the lead. Two minutes from time the visitors broke away straight from a United corner and Alan Rogers put the tie beyond Oxford to secure a 4th round trip to Stamford Bridge. The only change from the starting eleven against Wigan was Lundin replacing Arendse in goal. The other United substitution was a late change with Kevin Francis coming on for Rob Folland. There is a match report available too.

They never really wanted to leave…

In the other FA Cup 3rd round replay Andy Thomson scored Gillingham's extra time winner against Walsall. The full-time score was 1-1. Bournemouth's Mark Stein opened the scoring as they drew with Notts County 1-1 at Dean Court. Marco Gabbiadini scored the winner as they won 2-1 at bottom club Chester City.
