Aldo dies in car crash

Rage Online is distraught to announce that former United striker Martin Aldridge died today following a car crash yesterday. Aldridge was currently on loan at Rushden & Diamonds from Blackpool and will be fondly remembered by United supporters for his hat-trick against Sheffield United (leading Denis Smith to drop him) and his last minute winner against Walsall with a bicycle kick from the edge of the penalty area. The last time Nigel Jemson was playing for United he said of Aldridge that his only problem was that he didn't realise how good he was. Rage Online feels that, if given the chance by Smith, Aldo could have gone on to rival his namesake John as one of Oxford's finest goalscorers. We extend our sympathy to Martin's family and to his friends and colleagues.

Watford's Watson?

Just to add to the depression after Saturday's result, it appears that Watford are leading the chase to sign Mark Watson. Graham Taylor hasevidently been watching him closely as has Alan Curbishley of Charlton. Watson, who began his English career at Watford, is out of contract at the end of this season.

Crap ref does it again

Oxford hero Matty Elliot scored a sublime goal deep into injury time, but the blue scum that is Chelsea still beat Leicester 2-1, their second goal being allowed to stand by referee Graham Poll after white elephant Chris Sutton hauled down Matty's former United partner Phil Gilchrist before setting up George Weah. Bastads.
