Ford unpopular

Mike Ford, Oxford United's first team coach, has been given his P45 by the club, with immediate effect. Although the reasons for Fordy's departure are unclear it has long been claimed that he was unpopular with the players and youngsters for his coaching style, although popular with the fans for the undoubted passion that he displayed when a player at the club. Ford also had two spells as caretaker manager, during which Oxford spectacularly failed to win a game.

Rage Online has heard via a couple of sources, neither of which can be confirmed, that former Oxford and Wales defender Andrew Melville, currently playing for Fulham FC, has been lined up to take over from Ford. Melville is out of contract at the end of the season and is unlikely to cost the Us a fee. Failing that, expect whoever was coach when Ian Atkins was at Northampton to suddenly make an appearance…
