Following Mike Ford's departure Oxford United had announced that David Oldfield will fulfil the duties of player-coach until the end of the season. Darren Patterson, who has had reasonable success with the youth team, will be stepping up his responsibilities by taking over the reserves. Following last night's results United have slipped to seventh in the league, albeit still just three points behind the third automatic promotion place. Bournemouth have moved into the top three after their 3-0 demolition of troubled Swansea, who remain second from bottom. Torquay also moved above Oxford and into fourth place as they beat local rivals Exeter 1-0 at Plainmoor, leaving the Grecians just one place above Swansea.
York City, who are one place above United, scraped a 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury. In a clash of two teams battling it out for mid-table obscurity Rochdale won 1-0 at Darlington.
