Dial M for Merthyr

Dial M for Merthyr

The best title ever for a fanzine? Also, coincidentally, the venue for United's reserves goalless draw with Cardiff City. An otherwise nondescript game was made noteworthy for United fans for 80 minutes of Joey Beauchamp, plus the appearance of two triallists. Thame United's Jefferson Louis played up front and impressed boss Mike Ford, whilst Kevin Gibbens of Southampton played in midfield. Plymouth's Sean Evers didn't get a game in the end.

Last night's action

Following last night's results United dropped one place to 17th. Swansea beat Kidderminster 2-1 to move one point ahead of Oxford, although they have now played the same number of games. Oxford's opponents on Saturday, Lincoln City, lost 4-1 at home to Mansfield and the other team who could have moved above United, Macclesfield Town, drew 1-1 at Scunthorpe. The two bottom clubs, Halifax and York, draw 1-1 at the Shay. In the other two Division Three games Bristol Rovers and Darlington both lost at home to Hartlepool and Cheltenham respectively. In the FA Trophy Phil Bolland scored Chester's second equaliser in their 4-2 win at Solihull Borough.
