Monk returns to the Dell

Southampton have recalled on-loan defender Garry Monk, just a week after agreeing to extend his loan for a further month. Presumably Glen Hoddle felt empathetic with the defender's name and had his prayers answered after Monk's half-decent performances for the U's. Monk's recall coincides neatly with the arrival of Darren Patterson at the Manor, although it will disappoint David Kemp and, indeed, United supporters who were generally hopeful that the loan move might be made permanent.
