Land Deal signed at last

At 12.18 this afternoon John Tanner and Firoz Kassam put pen to paper to sign the contract which transfers ownership of the land at Minchery Farm for the football stadium, hotel and leisure complex from the City Council to Firoka. This means that Kassam can now instruct the builders, Barr Ltd, to commence work on the stadium with the security of knowing that the construction cannot now be prevented (touch wood). I see an armband I want it to be black…

Before tomorrow's game against Blackpool there will be a minute's silence in memory of both Martin Aldridge and Harry Thompson. In addition both teams, for whom Aldridge used to play, will be wearing black armbands, as will every other team in the Nationwide League. Initially the League resisted this move but an appeal by Blackpool manager Steve McMahon encouraged them to change their minds.
