Apparently United had a look at the possibility of signing Johnny Durnin from Portsmouth before he joined Carlisle on loan. Durnin is now 34 and so presumably no longer such a threat as when he was at the Manor before.

Kev's back

Kevin Francis is named in the eighteen player squad for tomorrow's trip to Bournemouth, having trained successfully and made a couple of appearances for the reserves recently. This is despite an earlier announcement that Mickey Lewis wanted him to have a few more reserve games under his belt before he would be reclaiming his place. Also in the squad tomorrow is a fit again Steve Davis who might replace Ross Weatherstone in central defence. Jamie Cook is likely to come in for the suspended Steve Anthrobus, especially now that the option of Jamie Lambert is no longer viable.

Lewis's unbeaten record continues

In the annual Office Staff v. Coaching Staff fixture last night the coaching staff, containing Alan Judge, Mickey Lewis, Les Taylor and Peter Foley, amongst others, scraped a 4-3 victory against a team containing the Rage On Sponsored Darren Bowler and Commercial Manager Trevor Baxter. Obviously the white collar kids missed the towering presence of Dave Crabtree in central defence (of course, he's never regained the skill he used to show when playing alongside the luminaries of Raging Bull FC)!
