Acting in haste

United today drew 1-1 with Millwall in a hastily arranged friendly game played at Iffley Road. The game was called because both teams had important reserves fixtures postponed this week and needed to give players match practice. United went 1-0 down but Dean Whitehead came off the substitutes' bench to equalise.

The game was watched by Andy Crosby, a 28 year old central defender currently at Brighton. Crosby is available on a free transfer and it is believed that United are very close to signing him. Why the club wants to add to its plethora of central defenders when it has a dearth of full backs is uncertain, but one has to assume that there is some sort of method somewhere in its actions. Crosby previously played for Chester and was also at Doncaster when Ian Atkins played there.
