United included five triallists in their ranks: Crystal Palace's Scott Gooding and Everton's Ryan Valentine again filled the full back positions and apparently had good games. Also impressive was Wimbledon midfielder Alex Tapp. Also on trial were Tottenham defender James Quilter and Southampton midfielder Matthew Rosier. United's line-up included Kevin Gibbens, Jefferson Louis and Norman Sylla.
Meanwhile that font of all knowledge, Teamtalk, claims that Colchester are unlikely to sign Richard Knight on a permanent deal because they are unable to afford the high wages that Oxford are paying him and, with a year left on his contract, he quite rightly refuses to take a cut in his salary. Knight played well in Colchester's win at Bury last week, but was unable to keep his first team place in Saturday's draw with Wigan, fuelling speculation that he wouldn't be kept on.
Saturday's Oxford Mail reported that Swansea manager, former United striker Nick Cusack, has drawn up a list of players that he wants at the Vetch, including former Swan Martin Thomas.
