Because of the demise of Rushden and Diamonds the Conference have forced Bishops Stortford to play in the Conference North. The Club have protested but have been given no choice. I didn't know they had flat caps and whippets in Hertfordshire.

Knowing and loving the Conference as we do, I'm guessing that without even looking at a map the league planner's gone and said "I've heard of that Bishops Stortford, it's in County Durham near Darlington".
In fact they probably let the Work Experience lad do that sort of thing.

Unfortunately, there is little alternative. Because the Conference is fed by three leagues (two Southern, one Northern), there has been a gradual moving of the border towards the South.
There are 22 clubs further South than Bishop's Stortford, and so they must head to the North. They knew it was a possibility and voted for the current situation at the previous AGM.
The solution to the problem would be to introduce a fourth feeder to the Conference, so that the North and Midlands had an equal number of promotion places as the South.
