Grays Review

Post by Radley Rambler »

A better performance than Weymouth &amp Exeter (Not that this is saying much). Howard looked a solid player and Green impressed me again - not sure about Richards yet.

BUT where is the width?? Murray often had the ball in the centre circle with no winger to pass to. Grays also played without width which just extentuated the problem and both sides cancelled each other out. We have two 6 foot strikers up front and there were no more than a handful of crosses in the game.

Where was Legister, was he injured?

To be honest, I wished I’d just stayed at home, and I really can’t be enthused enough to write something substantive about yet another nil nil draw.

As usual the fans turn up when asked, but the team doesn’t.

Thank God it’s ages before we have to decide again about showing up again against the mighty Histon and Droylsden.

Can anyone remember a more BORING season than this?

Boring doesn't do it justice. Pitiful. So many blatantly unfit players. What were people applauding at the end because I couldn't see ...?

We had a one man midfield today - Adam Murray.

When will Patto realise that Phil Trainer is not up to standard?

Agree with everything that all four posters so far have said.

Yeah, but now you’ve got to put a few hundred words together for the Oxford Mail’s print run on Monday!

I’m just glad it’s not me who has to do that.

Fantastic crowd, exceptional athletes, excellent skill and lots of exciting entertainment and a great result. What are you all moaning about FFS!

Oh sorry you lot went to the Kasstad not Cheltenham didn't you.

Knowhere at 20-1, get in there boy.

Interestingly Cheltenham Town Football Club were out in force, handing out flyers advertising parking, breakfast and post race meals at their ground during the Festival week.

Pleased to hear that you had a good time at the races. But this is an Oxofrd United website after all.

I thought the marketing iniitative yesterday by our club was decent as well.

OUFC cannot do any of the above 'Cheltenham Town intiatives at present as they don't own the ground.

As you well know.

That’s dead right, Tim.

So we have to reply on people like Graham Cripps writing pieces into the Oxford Mail to boost the gate. Well, that clown of a chairman we have is hardly going to do things like that is he, in partic when he's still using all his energy to flog tickets for the big bash at Blenheim Palace this week?

The reason that the attendance was reasonably good yesterday was more to do with the kids go free promotion and the fact that there were a couple of hundred school footballers and family attending.

As for the Cheltenham Town marketing. The reason we can't do anything similar is because we are 40 miles away from the Cheltenham festival so there wouldn't be much point in parking at the kasstad or having your breakfast there.

Ah, but we don’t know that because although there were kids all over the place we’ve not had any figures for the people who had tickets on the day.

You're missing the point. There are other Oxford related events which Oxford United couldl plug into for club benefit. If they owned the ground.

I repeat , yesterday's marketing inititiative was decent. One thing is for sure, some of you lot would have been moaning if nothing had been done. On a separate note, fair play to Graham Cripps.

I'm moaning. No consideration (or assistance) was given to help exiled season ticket holders sneak a kid in for free. Okay, i was unlucky that I was trying to deal with the yoof but he wasn't interested in helping me. Got my money already haven't they so nothing to lose. Not this season anyway. They should have kid-a-quid at least once a month for the rest of the season and bugger tieing it in with a voucher from the paper: the last thing I want is the Oxford Mail thinking they're doing me a favour! Well, not the last thing, but you know what I mean!

GY and I extend our thanks to Derek and Graham for helping us out.
