Eastleigh reflections

Post by DLT »

Yawn, yawn, yawn.

Smith and Patto must now know (like the rest of us already did) that Duffy and Marv are not a workable combination.

With a choice between Standing and Corc, I would take Standing.

With out Yemi we have no cut.

Without Burge we have no flair.

We have no effective width.

Day is solid defensively at left wing back, but has no attacking threat.

The back three formation is solid.

Trainer is Hargreaves younger partner, has same strengths and same weaknesses.

Ledgister has some excellent pace and is strong. Maybe the 'find'. Not disimilar to Zebrowski.

Weedon again doesn't get a chance, so deja vu with last season's youngsters.

I would rather the team / management found all this out about the players / combos in a pre season game away at eastleigh, than in the 1st 5 games of the season., isn't this what pre-season is all about?

However, I agree that even us lot, from behind our computer screens can see that marv and Duff don't work together, but then it is nice to see that Twigg looks like he can finish (oh, to have had him running down the exeter keeper in front of the OM stand on that fateful evening). But i go back to my original point that they've got to try each and every combo in pre-season, just to see what works.

negatives: eddie can't defend. don't make him play that role. will we see 4-4-2 at any time in pre-season? Please!!

Too early to conclude so firmly surely? I mean it is only 25th July.

Oh dear. Previous reports were pretty positive about Trainer. If he is only similar to Hargreaves, that will be disappointing.

Obviously Twiggy would have handled the pressure of the moment, rounded the keeper, slotted the ball home, took us to Wembley, scored six against Morecambe and put us back in the football league. He is so vastly superior to Duffy, we can all see that already can't we.
