Would be great to make this board our new home, but some may be put off by it's reputation for being a bit more sophisticated than the old venue. Was that comma in the right place?
However, maybe we should have brief period of amnesty for our new friends.

Also the categories while fine for light traffic are not as well designed for a heavier load (it will end up with one category used for 90% of posts and if busy threads would disappear off the screen pretty quick).
Personally I prefer the thought of all the threads on one forum rather than having the interminable arguments about posts being in the wrong category or everyone posting their bollocks in matches anyway because that gets the most traffic. However, if the majority prefer the board to be split (more than it already is) then I'm prepared to consider it. For now, though, let's see how it goes before making lots of changes that might affect the character of this board.

To make an obvious point, there may also be a reduction in consumer choice. Many of us will view (and even subscribe) to a number of boards. Sometimes you feel like a pint of Foster's, sometimes, a glass of port.

Agreed. It works well as it is.

You should never feel like a pint of Fosters. Not ever.
See Boris, you let them all in and the standard of decorum slips straight away...

Feeling like a pint of Foster's is fine. If you start looking like a pint of Foster's you should be very worried - Piss coloured bubbly body with a thin white head!!!

For those new to this board Godalming Yellow's tag 'grumpy old git' relates to the amount of posts he has published and has absolutly nothing to do with his age and personality.

And naturally I don't even have to mention about Tom being a brat...

Allegedly.

With you on that - the only word of caution (and this was one of my bug bears), was the tendancy to have 4 or 5 threads sometimes on the same topic. If that happened on here, you would have some danger of swamping the board and losing some good topics (such as some of the indepth and involved ones on the TiU management section).
Saying that, it's all early days.

All I wish is Rage Online retains its piquant flavour over the coming months.
Newsquest have dropped a big goolie over their handling of the TIU closedown.

I wonder who it was in Newsquest who made that decision?
Thom, any idea?

I have this image of the users of RO and the new TIU having a big ruck over which is the better forum.
