GY beat me to it!

Can't believe people think keeping Chester would be good for us. If they're expelled, the net effect is the same as if we automatically win our game in hand.

I wonder if we’ll ever find out who voted for what?

Anyway, there goes my weekend in North Wales with my family and another Saturday afternoon with no game.

I’m surprised that the club didn’t have any kind of contingency plan to play a game against someone relatively local should this have happened, given that they were all prepared and all that.

Moving on, if you include Pompey then all-in-all it’s been a sad day for football today, but hopefully a wake-up call for the people who run football, and whether your team plays in the Prem or Division V (or lower) it’s clearly an indicator that proper finances and management are as important as your last result on the field. Not that I expect anything to get better, but supporters morally own their clubs (imho) and I’m not sure what the answer is.

Finally, I retain many memories from Sealand Road - some good, some bad, but it was always a great place to go. RIP Chester City and good luck to AFC Chester.

Err that would be far too sensible.

Luton have (pathetically) drawn 0-0 with them twice so the net effect (considering we almost certainly have won today given that they only have two senior players left) is a 4 point gain to them over us.

Also, though Stevenage have beaten them twice we already had a better goal difference from our single game than they did over their two, and considering it might be rather tight up the top come the end of the season, having a game against a bunch of kids to significantly boost our goals scored would be rather nice.

Keeping Chester is one thing. Chester actually fulfilling their remaining fixtures would have been another thing altogether.
Anyway they are now history. Sadly.
We are 6 points clear.
Luton now have a game in hand - and if they win that will be 9 points behind us.
Oh, and we have the best goal difference.
I can't see that there's even a debate to be had here - we are in a very strong position whether they are in or out.
But I do have a bit of a concern regarding Cambridge who have come out of this pretty badly and are now only just above the relegation zone. Sense of injustice on their part and bit of a backlash on Tues night?

It appears that the decision to expel Chester is open to appeal!

Yes, good luck, but I hope they can come up with something a little more original than AFC Chester!

Which explains why the Division V table published by nearly every official source is wrong tonight.

Well I quite like them!

Anyway, I see the Conference have published a further statement about the expungement (if that's not a real word then it should be) and it is repeated here...

http://www.forestgreenroversfc.com/news ... asp?id=785

It's a repeat word-for-word of what appears on the Conference site although on there it says CHESTER have to live within their means rather than CLUBS on the FGR site.

As a seperate issue, I bet Peake is burning the midnight oil with his rule book to try and find away of FGR avoiding being relegated!

In today's NLP, Graham Westley reveals that Stevenage voted against expelling Chester because they had taken 6 points off them. Glad that others didn't demonstrate such selfish motives.

On the subject of an appeal, the Conference statement is less than clear, but my interpretation is that the appeal is not against the expulsion but against the Conference's recommendation to its members that they expel Chester. If that is the case, I'd wager that m'learned friends would find argument that, were it not for such a recommendation, the member clubs may have voted differently. But, considering that they couldn't even be bothered to turn up for the meeting on Friday, I wonder if Chester's owners will be bothered to fight any more.

But apparently it's not just Chester that are allowed to appeal, but any Conference member. So it's just possible that Stevenage or Cambridge or one of the others that has done badly out of this might submit an appeal (doubtful, especially considering that it's not likely to achieve a reversal of the vote, but possible).

What's the deadline for any possible appeals to be submitted?
