Trouble is we seem to be on the receiving end nearly every time We've declined year on year for ages and have gone through untold agony and despair but supporting a football team is something much deeper than seeking entertainment.

Hopefully it's a lesson learned regarding the signing of used up, older players at the expense of (presumably) cheaper youngsters from bigger clubs. Brevett, Johnson, Hargreaves and Basham shouldn't be retained and if someone can convince Gilchrist to retire, it would be for the best. Although each may have something to offer on a given day, their wages would be better spent on younger players who are cheaper and give the same value on the field. Which is the better value, Johnson or Day? Assuming that Day's wages are equal to or less than Johnson (and I suspect they are much less), I say Day is a significantly better prospect despite his inconsistancy.

I suspect the wages of Wilmott and Quinn will mean the end for them as well. If we can somehow get L Foster and Corcoran to both sign, I think we'll be fine defensively. Interesting to see if Gunn is retained and how many of the youth players will get deals (B Weedon, Anderson?). Mulvany from Southampton sounds an interesting prospect as well.

Sorry I didn't come over and see you at the end of the game. It was'nt really a time to have a good old chinwag about how great a season it had been I guess.

I have to say our area of SSU positively sizzles with atmosphere compared to where I was sitting - on a one off basis last night in KK 150. Two old guys out of the Muppet Show started moaning in the first 30 seconds. And did not stop for 120 minutes. Still - I guess its their way of showing they love the club.

Wosrt moment for me last night was when I saw Quinn tottering over to take his pen. At that moment I felt doomed.

I live for the day when we one day win something of substance again.

Or are we supporters destined to be the Ancient Mariners of the football world slowly going mad...

I rushed from the ground and was in no mood to talk to anyone. How some managed to stay and clap the team off was beyond me. I was back home in Bicester by 11 o'clock. I had to put distance between me and the scene of our downfall.

You can't have been in the car park then. I hadn't moved at 11 o'clock. Talk about prolonging the misery...

Knowing it was going to be a late one I stayed and watch the players troop disconsolately off. Last off was Danny Rose who clearly took it worse than most of the others. What does it say about our lot that a loanee from the most cossetted reserve team in the country cares the most?

It still hurts.

And yes it still hurts very much with me too.
But I don't expect to wake up at 4 am this morning with it playing on my mind as happened last night.

I can't say I deserve much pay this week/month and especially not since Tuesday. Its very difficult to concentrate at the moment.

Its a bit like a grieving process.
