I'm all for getting a retro shirt but the price tag seems a little steep......

When I clicked on this thread I thought that after todayÔÇÖs game it might be something along the lines of ÔÇÿmaybe some Oxford United supporters think that all referees are equally inept rather than being biased against Us all of the timeÔÇÖ.

I was sat in the home end (well 'side') today and they were not impressed with Mr D'Urso. We did seem to get a lot of the decisions but maybe that's a sign that we were the more skilful side and thus got fouled more. Have to say though that I think the penalty shout straight after the break was valid.

I got talking to the Wombles fan who was sat next to me and he felt that they gave away two soft goals but apart from that 'dominated the game' - funny how we all watch a different game whilst watching the same event.......

I was in the club bar after the game chatting with AFCWs internet commentary man. He felt we were the deserved winners, but felt that their first penalty shout was valid, and the others were not. I couldn't see it fromm the away side, due to the terracing being set too low compared to the pitch and the dugouts getting in the way.

The AFCW chap was impressed by Constable, and in particular his work rate, chasing down the AFC defenders, and he was also impressed with Whing and Davis.

I pretty much agree with his assessment. We were the better side, especially in the first half. AFC improved in the second half, but we were still the better side.

I also thought Hall had a great game.

Andy D'Urso got most decisions right in my view, and I certainly didn't think he favoured one side over the other.

I was really impressed with how AFC is run. Their supporters were really welcoming after the game, allowing us through the Directors entrance to get in and walking through the home seating to get there with no problems despite my obviosuly wearing an Oxford shirt. In their main bar, they had a first team player onto their small stage to present the match ball to the ball boy, and several youth players talking briefly about their early thoughts on playing for AFC. Both of these events undertaken amonst their supporters provided a wonderful community link between the club and the support.

Anyway overall a very enjoyable day out.

I thought completey the opposite! Before the game they wouldnt let any Oxford into the bar despite having NO colours at all.
Most unhelpful stewards also by all accounts...

I dunno, in my experience, most places you buy a student ticket in advance you would be expected to show a student card on the day. Doesn't seem unfair to me. Otherwise whats to top everyone buying student tickets?

Generally it's the fact that you have to produce your student identification at the point of sale.

Exactly - so if you buy online or over the phone you would expect to have to show the student card when you show up.

Yeah but you could produce anyone's student id at the point of sale. Doesn't mean they're going to be using the ticket. And what if it had been bought online (as some tickets for that fixture were)? If a student showed a young person's railcard to buy a train ticket in advance, they would still expect to have to show it again on the train to prove that they personally, as the traveller, were entitled to the discount. Of course I'm not implying that Baboo's son (or any other U's fan) was trying to pull a fast one, but it would be easy enough to do if there were no checks in place. The rule seems reasonably common sense to me. Sorry.

Asking for someone's birth certificate to prove they're under 16 does seem very harsh though - you're not generally expected to carry that sort of id around with you.

Had forgotten about this.

As an ex-internal auditor (at present) I fully agree with proper controls and checks. And as I believe I said earlier as it was in the small print it's a fair cop. But I've bought tickets for him before from Oxford - he has proved to the club that he is a student and has produced his NUS card &amp have never before been asked to prove again on entry to the ground that he is a student. I suppose my gripe is (was) that it should have been in bigger print and better publicised before the day. What evidence are under 16's supposed to carry - not many people go around with their birth certificate on their person. (edit -only just noticed KY said exactly the same thing)

Oh, and the fact that there was no evidence that we had paid extra. Reconciliation of cash to the number of turnstile clicks would not have worked.

I'm 17 and in 6th form so my ST this year was a student one, but got it through the company that let you pay over 10 months, the club said to bring a letter or something showing I'm a student by the third home match of the season, to be honest I was lazy and didn't expect them to do anything about it and never got around to taking a letter etc and the club haven't contacted me about it. To be honest I don't think people would actually try that anyway, especially as if loads of people that have been going for ages start turning up with student season tickets start turnng up questions will be asked.
