Reading
The ticket office at Stamford Bridge has opened this evening to offer a chance for disappointed Reading fans to buy season tickets. All plastic welcome.
I was watching online via a very dodgy stream and when Reading clawed the game back to 2-3 just after half time I went downstairs and watched TV - I just could not bear watching anymore.
I was fearing the inevitable Swans collapse as resurgent Reading were rampant.
I was delighted to see the full time result at 5pm and I hope snake had another top day out at Wembley.

Certainly was a good day out - though that’s the worst I’ve seen Swansea play in the last two seasons."OUFC4eva" wrote:I was watching online via a very dodgy stream and when Reading clawed the game back to 2-3 just after half time I went downstairs and watched TV - I just could not bear watching anymore.

Great seeing so many disappointed Reading supporters on the way home on the train but also disappointing to see how many of Them got on at Bicester North this morning.
So, only 19 English teams left in the English Premier League now

A TCW? Eh?"Hog" wrote:Bloody hell! Might as well let Celtic and Rangers in now and be done with it!
Snake, are you really a TCW?
Anyway, it was not all that long ago I did this match report for Rage Online in the season that Swansea nearly ended up in the Conference. How times can change - http://www.rageonline.co.uk/mainpage.ph ... port_id=68

Yesterday was a great day to be an Oxford fan with Swansea for a second team. I'm with Snake, that was a poor performance from the Swans but Reading to their credit did not let them play their normal fluent sytle.
One interesting point.....
On a very wet May day 8 years ago Swansea stayed in the football league via a 4-2 win in which a hat-trick was scored that included 2 pens.
On a very wet May day 8 years on and a 4-2 win achieved with a hat-trick that included 2 pens has taken the Swans to the pinnacle of English & Welsh professional football. Spooky eh?

Who scored that hat-trick for Swansea in 2003 ?
I remember Swansea winning at PNE in 1981 to clinch promotion to the top flight. I don't know who United were playing that day - I was 12 and watching my uncle playing non league that Saturday afternoon.
Swansea also had a great side in 1981-1982 with the likes of Jeremy Charles, Leighton James, Alan Curtis & Robbie James.

T'was a certain James Thomas formerly of Blackburn Rovers, West Brom, Blackpool plus one or two others. However he originated from Swansea so his scoring feat that day made sure he went down a hero. He ended up playing for Llanelli which is my home town so he actually went backwards rather than forwards.
Alan Tate and Leon Britton also played that day. Yesterday's heroics makes for a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for the two of them.

Re:
So great that Swansea came close to winning the League in that period. If my memory serves me correctly they were still in with a shout at Easter and the last few games. No chance of that happening next season of course, just like for any “little"OUFC4eva" wrote:Swansea also had a great side in 1981-1982 with the likes of Jeremy Charles, Leighton James, Alan Curtis & Robbie James.
