You could just see the scenario unfolding. Deep into injury time with the score at 0-0 and the U's only requiring a point to guarantee automatic promotion and Foster rises above Creighton to slam the ball in from a corner. Aaaaggghhhhh!!
Don't be silly - Duffy is already lined up to do this.

I'd dispute that he was our best defender (certainly this season) Creighton is far better and dependable.

As for the analogy - Chelsea letting Carvalho go after signing Ferdinand and Vidic would be a better analogy.

Here's how I think the conversation may have gone:

F - So boss I need to know about my future and I want to sign a contract extension.

W - Well at the moment I'm not in a position to do that

F - Well how would you feel about me looking for a club that would give me 2 or 3 years security?

W - I'd be dissapointed but if that's what you feel you have to do then go ahead.

F - Thanks boss.

W - No problem, Oh and Fozzie.....

F - yes boss?

W - You can tell the wife that you can baby sit on Saturday afternoons and Tuesday evenings for the next few weeks.

The reason that Foster has left has nothing to do with any falling out with Chris Wilder. There are other very good reasons which meant that it was a sensible decision to let him go (despite his playing ability). Let's just say that it's a 'team' game.

I'm not going to provide any more details but those who know me will know that I have access to good information and this is not supposition on my part.

Now onwards and upwards......

Please tell me it's a Mark Wright - Wayne Hatswell scenario.

All sorts of rumours now surfacing about a certain type of lifestyle undertaken by the player and also that the club had sorted out problems with this a couple of times, but said no more.

As usual no facts and all alledged but not a reason I've heard before!!

I seem to remember that Foster couldn't get in the side under Smith for a while due to some discipline reason.

Sounds like the same rumours I heard in the Priory on Saturday, bit of a Joey lifestyle allegedly.

Foster had similar issues with Patterson as well didn't he? I think it's a bit of a shame that he's gone as he's young for a centre half but reasonably experienced. He's a better than average conference defender.

As he's just had a child it might be the point at which he gains a new level of maturity and professionalism (in fact, that may be why he and wilder discussed contracts and his future) so in some ways it's a pity we're letting him go now.

Twitter &amp Facebook mainly.

With Tweetdeck you can set up an automatic search so each time anyone anywhere in the world mentions Oxford United you see the post.

Washerwoman alert.

Nothing officially from the club about reasons for departure. Good.
