Sounds like an issue for OxVox to chase up."boris" wrote:I may be wrong, and I'm sure that any Council employees knocking about this site can check, but I'm fairly certain that there was an s.106 for the stadium whereby Firoka were to part-fund a roundabout at that junction (although I'm not sure quite how that would improve traffic flow there). If it wasn't a s.106 then it may have been a seperate planning consent, but I'm sure reading that it was due to be built last summer.
Anybody......

As I remember it the condition was for a contribution towards junction improvements but didn't specifically mention a roundabout."GodalmingYellow" wrote:Sounds like an issue for OxVox to chase up."boris" wrote:I may be wrong, and I'm sure that any Council employees knocking about this site can check, but I'm fairly certain that there was an s.106 for the stadium whereby Firoka were to part-fund a roundabout at that junction (although I'm not sure quite how that would improve traffic flow there). Very unlikely that anything would be done unless and until a housing estate is built to the south of Grenoble road on which case the developer will be asked to fund major junction improvements.
Until then half a dozen traffic police strategically placed is the most likely way of alleviating the problem.
The main problem with that car park is the fact myself, and a couple of thousand others walk across the juction as the car try to exit the car park by bowlplex. That means that the cars stutter out not flow.
If they held up the fans crossing for 3 mins and let the cars flow out, then stopped the cars for a minute so the fans could cross it would work much better.
Then you could have a car park marshall controlling the feed out of the west car park and overflow and it would all work better.
Three blokes, a few barriers for 30 minutes and the problem will be greatly reduced.

Good point. Oxvox should - and will raise this issue when we meet with the club next week."DLT" wrote:The main problem with that car park is the fact myself, and a couple of thousand others walk across the juction as the car try to exit the car park by bowlplex. There were a number of agreements made regarding the stadium when the balance of the club’s future was still in doubt a few years ago. Some were to do with developer contributions under the Town & Country Planning Act 1990 (Bronze Bully and some landscaping issues immediately spring to mind) so you can easily ask the s106 officer at your local friendly council about those, but there were also a lot (and I mean a lot) more associated with the Land Deal that have never even seen the light of day in the public domain, let alone be implemented. All of these “agreements

I'm not sure that would help that much. The flow of pedestrians doesn't last more than about 5 minutes. And anyway the traffic would just back up more quickly from the Sandford junction, so flow could never be improved significantly."DLT" wrote:The main problem with that car park is the fact myself, and a couple of thousand others walk across the juction as the car try to exit the car park by bowlplex. The main problem is that you've got the entire car park trying to empty out of a single lane exit, all at the same time. And unless someone conjures up another exit, that is always going to mean delays for people parked there.
On a related matter - a change in the traffic light timings at the Ring Road/Garsington Road roundabout in favour of traffic coming away from the ground would definitely help clear the area. It only needs to be done for 20 minutes or so. This is a particular cause of delays when there's been a big crowd.
Also, a change in traffic priority at the Sandford T-Junction might help generally - at the moment everyone has to stop and check before turning left and filtering onto the Dual Carriageway. If traffic coming from Sandford had to stop and give way instead, things might be improved.
