Yemi /Willmott

Post by bjoufc »

Yemi I think could do us a job his pace is quality he just needs to improve his end product and he could get 30 a season.

Its a shame about Willmott he and foster were playing quite well in the last half of the season

Much as I like Yemi, he has had 3 and a half years in which to improve his end product with no indication that he's ever actually going to. How long should the manager give him? Is there really any likelihood of him improving, given that he's been the same under Talbot, Smith, Patterson, and Wilder?

He's only scored 31 since he's been here, how is he suddenly gonna figure out how to get 30 a year? The best strikers in the league get roughly 25 a season, Yemi is not one of them.

Too often in the past I have felt players who have had potential have not been given the time to show they can deliver. That has not been the case with Yemi. I have enjoyed watching him - and on those rare occasions he does deliver, he is great value. But as others have said it has not been often enough. He is therefore not a player who can, metaphorically and literally, take us to the next level.

I think being sentimental is not going to get us into the league. He's not flexible positionally and not very mobile. You could also say his wages could be high. We already have Foster, Killock and Sandwith that can play centre-back. I stll think we'll sign a centre-back on lower wages, allowing us to use the saving on other positions.

As for Yemi, I was a big fan of his, but he is a shadow of the player that scored two goals against Dagenham. As CW said, it was a financial decision, but I think he was not of the required standard. I would like to get someone with similar pace back in the team/squad.
