Pies

Post by Isaac »

To add to my generally disgruntled mood last night - my pie experience was only unsatisfactory. Perhaps my expectations have been raised too much by the overexcitement on here regarding the Kiddeminster Cottage Pies, but the one I had last night was a bit disappointing, £4, lukewarm and strangely unsatisfying. I also had some soup as that had also been talked up considerably and that was pretty good, although at £1.50 not what you'd call a bargain. The veggie menu looked pretty advanced though. Obviously overal better than all other football grounds but nothing special compared to any other non-football food outlets, in my opinion.

The Roast Pork Bap was not only very tasty but also seemed good value for money. It cost £4.00 but lasted for most of the first half.

It sounds like you bought your pie from the right hand side catering window. The pies on the left were only £3.80 and had the tops browned - I didn't have one but they looked more like the pies I've had in the past at Kiddy. Personally I went for the chicken curry complete with naan bread, rice, mango chutney and lime pickle. Nothing like as good as your local indian but still the best food I've had at a football ground catering outlet.

Ah, clearly an error to go to the right hand side outlet - 20p extra and not even browned? The price difference is a bit odd, surely the whole stadium is done by the same caterers?

Anyway, more clubs should be able to provide a similar service, as although I was disappointed it was still considerably better than anywhere else I've been.

Yep, left hand side certainly £3.80 browned off with a sprinkiling of cheese on top I thought.

I think the caterers did a certain amount of 'pricing for the market' last night. I seem to remember the last visit they were about £3.20 each and certainly the price list had lots of sticky tape over it.

Still, mine was excellent. Shame the result wasn't.

My pie at £4.00 was extremely tasty &amp nicely browned on top. Soup was very good too. I think the comment on the price hike was right though. A new price list had been cellotaped over an ole one where the pies were a mere £3.40 if my eyes didn't deceive me. That was very disappointing.

the veggie fare gets a thumbs up too - egg, tomato, and mushroom butty, freshly cooked and very filling. good pub/football grub. just wish i could've tried the veggie curry - but hope i don't get the chance.

well maybe we could get them first round in the cup.
