One of our alleged celebrity fans discussing Oxford's, er, "contribution to the pantheon of great British Rock 'n Roll" on last Friday's Front Row on Radio 4. Haven't listened to it yet, but hasn't Jim White been known to show up at the odd fans' forum? I'm sure he was at one in our Headington days once, and he's certainly mentioned OUFC when guesting on Mark Radcliffe's radio show. Anyway, might be worth a listen.

White supports Manc United, but is also manager of Summertown Stars u-17s. He often attends Oxford games, as I believe his 16-year-old is a fan. His excellent book "You'll win nothing with kids" is about his managerial experience with Summertown (although they're never mentioned by name), and he frequently references "the local professional club", not always disparagingly. He was indeed at the last Keith Cox forum, and wrote about it in the Guardian, referring to the incident when Cox had a go at former RO editor Paul.

Last Friday myself DLT and a few other Oxford fans went to Cheltenham and through the alcohol fueled haze we recognised three "celebrities". The first was Nial Quinn (who obviously must have some tenuous link to OUFC) but the other 2 were Jim White (an alleged Oxford fan) and the one and only Nicky "Sausage" Banger (an alleged ex Oxford player) Wierd.

Nicky Bangers Aunt used to clean my room at Uni, whilst he was playing for us - she didn't think much of him, always down the local tanning shop and drove about in a flash BMW apperently."Mally" wrote:Last Friday myself DLT and a few other Oxford fans went to Cheltenham and through the alcohol fueled haze we recognised three "celebrities". She always insisted on coming in my room in the morning no matter what - even if I left the bin outside which indicates that I didn't want to be disturbed.
