Re: Onwards and hopefully upwards

That is a longer list than I was expecting. I assume departures are likely either to be for money or 'by mutual consent', the latter possibly as part of a deliberate squad restructure. So who do people expect to depart? Are there any people here who we should actively seek to offload? I was just abo...

Re: M40

I am not sure we would have kept all of our key assets even had we gone up, because of the wage offers that other Championship clubs could make. I very much agree with KE that (especially after the last few months) getting financial stability back into the club will be key for our long term future. ...

Re: M40

Damn you all. I was feeling fine until I read this thread. It has been an incredible season, whatever happens. The clash of styles is so great: https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/18578596.oxford-united-preparing-clash-styles-play-off-final/ but the different approaches have got the two teams to the ...

Re: Playoffs

Taylor was clearly struggling, won nothing all game and rather than compete for the ball kept looking to spin round the defender so it didn't stick with him - usually he is really good a this. Our TikTok star didn't improve when he came on - Taylor at least may always pop up with a goal like in the...

Re: Playoffs

Or simply tune into Talksport 2. Pfft, away with you and this talk of commercial radio! I’m combining the trip with a long-awaited, socially-distanced family visit, I should probably clarify! As I texted a friend at the time - things I never thought I would say. All this talk of possible Pomp...

Re: Playoffs

Well I wasn’t at the game yesterday, Jerome, because of bloody social distancing measures, but I listened to your commentary and I thought it was a flippin’ good result... Very happy with that. Both sides looked rusty, but us particularly in the first 20 minutes, and I thought Portsmouth had a grea...

Including how to define "squad" if a limit of 20 is put in place.

Re: The C-word

I assume you mean Fleetwood? I would make Fleetwood favourites, but there was no way the bookies would go against Pompey. Ty - I think the option of finishing the season ended once it became clear that no decision was being made, for such a long time that training could not start until well into Jun...

Re: How would you end it?

I am not sure that unweighted PPG is any more practical than weighted PPG - and the latter reflects what I assume must be an objective fact, that teams have different home and away form (otherwise the two measures would deliver the same outcome). One problem is that Leagues 1 and 2 do not operate in...

Re: Furlough

According to this: https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/18394372.oxford-uniteds-players-put-furlough-scheme/ KR is not furloughed. As OY says, how can not training by instruction possibly be enforced. In conceptual terms, fitness and training can easily be distinguished, with the latter involving work...

Jeez, can this year get any worse?
Yes, Slumdon could get promoted!
What a great argument for rejecting my earlier suggestion.

Re: The C-word

The simple answer is that there is no simple answer. That said, as all of your options imply, the notion of actually completing the season is surely out of the window now. Another option to your three, equally difficult to contemplate, could be to take the tables as they stand and base promotion and...

This is worth a read, and it's a lecturer in virology, so not just "some bloke on the internet": https://theconversation.com/coronavirus-can-herd-immunity-really-protect-us-133583 This seems pretty clear to me on the dangers of pursuing a 'herd immunity' approach. Talk of implementing a d...
